Before After 1 Sculptra treatment
(Treatment performed by Robert T. Motazedi, M.D.)
Sculptra
Sculptra® is an injectable volumising treatment that is made from poly-L-lactic acid. The same ingredient found in disposable stitches. Sculptra® adds fullness to the cheeks and helps smooth out wrinkles by replacing lost volume due to fat loss and tissue reabsortion. Sculptra® is save and has been FDA approved for patients with HIV.
Facial aging is a multi-factorial process and is caused by sagging of the skin, loss of bone, muscle deterioration and sagging and lipoatrophy or fat loss. The loss of fat beneath the skin is one of the causes that contribute to sunken cheeks, indentations, and hollow eyes. It can even magnify the look of jowls and sagging around the jawline.
Sculptra® treatment is extremely tolerable with most patients can return to work immediately after treatment. A topical numbing agent is applied prior to treatment for approximately 40 minutes. Treatment of both cheek areas takes 20 minutes and then ice packs are applied to cut down on the risk of bruising. Patients are asked to discontinue medications and supplements that thin the blood two weeks prior to treatment in order to reduce this risk. Makeup can be applied the next day. Most patients will require between 3 to 6 treatments, spaced one month apart.
